Anti-Discriminatory Policy

Policy Statement:

Phoenix Animal Rescue (“PAR”) is committed to promoting an inclusive and welcoming environment for all volunteers and adopters and community members who interact with the rescue. We believe that diversity enriches our community and enhances our mission of rescuing and finding homes for animals in need. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.

Scope:

This policy applies to all volunteers, staff, other individuals working with PAR. It covers all aspects of engagement, including recruitment, training, and adoption processes.

Policy Details:

  • We provide equal opportunities for all individuals regardless of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or any other characteristic protected by law.
  1. Inclusive Recruitment:
  • We actively seek to recruit a diverse group of volunteers and encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds. Our orientation and training materials will reflect our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  1. Training and Support:
  • All volunteers will receive training that emphasizes the importance of respect, empathy, and understanding of diversity. Ongoing support and resources will be provided to ensure an inclusive environment.
  1. Adoption Process:
  • Our adoption process will be conducted fairly and without bias. We will evaluate potential adopters based on their suitability for the animals, rather than personal characteristics unrelated to animal care.
  1. Reporting Discrimination:
  • We encourage individuals to report any incidents of discrimination or harassment. Reports can be made to a Bruno Lombardo, owner and founder or to Marta Gambone, who will handle the matter confidentially and with sensitivity. Retaliation against individuals who report discrimination will not be tolerated.
  1. Community Engagement:
  • We will engage with our community to promote awareness and understanding of diversity in animal rescue. We aim to partner with organizations that share our commitment to inclusivity.
  1. Policy Review:
  • This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. We welcome feedback from volunteers, adopters, and community members to improve our practices.

Commitment to Change: PAR recognizes that fostering an inclusive environment is an ongoing process. We are committed to learning, evolving, and actively working to eliminate discrimination in all forms.
