hi Ruby! This sweet gal is a 7 1/2 year old German Shepherd. Her family brought her to a local vet to be euthanized but the vet thankfully reached out to us and we were able to step in and help. She is 55 lbs. In our care, Ruby has been the sweetest and nicest old lady. She does well on the leash, is gentle and friendly with out volunteers and interested in the outdoors. She loves to lean in for pets and gentle ear scratches. She has been very easy to handle and lovely with us all. Now for the more difficult part - Ruby was brought to be euthanized because, when startled by a young child at home, she put her mouth on the child. She did not break skin, she did not draw blood, but the family was worried and no longer wanted to keep her. As an older lady, it is entirely possible that she got overwhelmed or sacred when startled and reacted. To her credit though, she never actually cased any damage to the child. Taking the whole situation under consideration, we believe she deserves a chance at finding a home. Ruby's ideal home will understand that while she has pep in her step, she is an older lady that is looking for a peaceful, quiet home to spend her last chapter in. Out of abundance of caution, she would prefer a home with no young children. She will need to meet any resident dogs.
