Meet Moosetracks, a 7-month-old Newfoundland. Originally purchased from a Lancaster puppy mill, he was returned after being diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Another family briefly took him in but decided not to keep him. We stepped in to give him a safe place while he searches for his forever home. Moosetracks is a happy, energetic, extra-large puppy. He’d thrive in a home with a well-mannered, tolerant large dog to guide him. He enjoys other dogs but can be pushy and vocal in play. He’s done well with dogs like a boxer, shepherd, Malinois, Great Pyrenees, and Rottweiler. Due to his play style, we haven’t tested him with much smaller dogs. He must meet any resident dogs. He loves kids but doesn’t yet understand boundaries - he jumps and runs through them. He’s working on manners with volunteers, so he’s best suited for homes with older kids or adults. He may pose a fall risk for seniors. Moosetracks craves attention and is very sweet with volunteers. He comes when called and knows “sit.” He’s potty trained and hasn’t had any accidents, even overnight. A volunteer who hosted him for a few nights reported no issues with chewing, guarding, or resource behavior. He will come vaccinated, microchipped, and 4DX tested. Due to his hip dysplasia, his neuter will be postponed until he’s about 18 months old. X-rays and a vet note are available for serious adopters to discuss with their own vets. He currently shows no pain or limp. His future needs are uncertain due to his age. His future family must live within an hour of our vet in Media, PA due to the neuter contract.
