Hellboy is a striking albino blood python with a larger-than-life name and a story that proves just how resilient he is. Estimated to be about 6½ years old, this handsome 5-foot, 17-pound snake came to us after being surrendered to ACCT Philly when his owner could no longer provide the medical care he needed. When Hellboy arrived, he required surgery to address a prolapsed hemipenes, which ultimately needed to be amputated. Fortunately, he recovered beautifully and has been thriving ever since. He has healed well, is eating like a champion, and happily polished off a large rat in our care without any issues. As a blood python, Hellboy has the typical temperament of his breed. He can be handled and does well when he's in the mood for interaction, but he is also very clear about his boundaries. When he does not want to be picked up or handled, he may strike to let you know. Blood pythons are known for being strong-bodied, intelligent snakes that do best with keepers who understand and respect their body language and behavior.
