hi Eleanor!
This little sweetheart is a 3 month old Yorkie. Her mom and siblings were surrendered to us when the puppies were just a week or two old because mom was attacked by a larger dog at the breeding farm, seriously injured, and the breeder did not want to provide care for her. They have all been in foster care and doing awesome (mom was adopted!). Mabel is just under 2 lbs.
This good girl was raised in a busy home with kids of all ages, other dogs and cats. She has been very well socialized and is just the sweetest little girl. Because how fragile this girl is, the foster mom has very specific requirements for Eleanor to ensure she is safe, healthy and continues to thrive.
Eleanor is a tiny little nugget - she fits in the palm of your hand. She has to have a full time person dedicated to her care (someone who works from home etc) as she cannot be left alone for long periods of time. While she is growing, she has to have someone consistently monitoring her eating.
She has a very specific diet. After many trials, she eats and does well just one one food (not RX food). She also drinks water at this time from a hamster bottle (it is easier for her). The foster will provide the exact bowl and bottle she uses to the adopter.
She is looking for a home with an extra small dog experience. She will not be adopted to homes with larger dogs because of how fragile she is. She is looking for a home with other tiny adults (think no more than 5-6 lbs). She loves cats at home, but she will go on a hunger strike if there is no other dog around.
She is kid friendly, but again, due to how very fragile she is she prefers a home that is adults only or where the kids are older and can be trusted around the tiny fluff.
We understand that is a lot but Eleanor's safety and health is our priority so based on the foster's experience, we want to make sure Eleanor is set up for success.
She will need to meet any resident dogs.
She will come vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. Because she is still so small, the vet has recommended that we delay her spay until October 2025 . For that reason, her future family must live with an hour of our vet in Media, Pa.
